Admissions

Does your family have younger children? Consider enrolling them in Highlands Latin, our sister classical K-8 school, which shares our campus.

Admissions Process

Step 1 - Apply Online

Step 1 - Apply Online

Our application process is completed online through TADS, a third-party service that captures all the relevant information for your student's application. TADS handles admissions, enrollment, documents, and more. Create a free account and manage everything in one place.

There is a non-refundable $50 application fee. That fee will reserve your child’s place for the placement test administered in the next step. In order to sit for the placement test, the application must be submitted and the fee must be paid.

We currently have 30 students enrolled at Chesterton Academy and we hope all those students will continue with us next year. For 2023-2024, we project to double in size, rising to 60 total students, which will give us three full sections: 20 ninth graders, 20 tenth graders, and 20 eleventh/twelfth graders.

Admissions will be handled on a first come, first served basis. Again, we are capping the number of students we accept and we are confident the spots will fill up extremely fast, so please apply as soon as possible!

Step 2 - Placement Test

Step 2 - Placement Test

All incoming freshmen are required to take the CLT8 (Classical Learning Test 8) as a high school placement test. This test will be used as a diagnostic tool to ensure students are placed in the appropriate section of each discipline, and to help identify areas of academic strengths and opportunities for growth. (An optional Latin placement exam is also offered to students who have previously taken Latin.)

The test covers the following:

  • Verbal reasoning skills
  • Grammar and writing skills
  • Quantitative reasoning skills

Incoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors will be required to take either the CLT10 or the CLT.

Step 3 - Family Interview

Step 3 - Interview

Each family (student and parents) will also need to take part in an interview with the headmaster, staff, or Board from Chesterton Academy. The purpose is to ensure that both the family and the school are a good fit for one another.

Step 4 - Acceptance

Step 4 - Acceptance

After the application process is complete, and all materials have been reviewed by Chesterton Academy staff, acceptance letters will then be mailed out to students.

Step 5 - Enroll

Step 5 - Enroll

Once your student is accepted, you are then ready to formally enroll your student in the school! This involves signing a tuition agreement, setting up tuition payments, meeting the other students, families, staff, and teachers, and preparing for the upcoming school year!
